Something to Think About These Last Days of Christmas...

Well, here we are, the last week of the Christmas Season.
For the four weeks of Advent, we heard stories of the One who is to come, the One who would heal the crippled, make the deaf hear, and make the blind see.
The One who would come and bring justice and peace.
At Christmas we celebrated the joy of the Christ Child being born.
Our church exuberates joy with hundreds of beautiful red poinsettias and the beautiful Nativity.
Gatherings of friends and family happened.
Gifts were exchanged.
Cards with Christmas joy were sent out.
We’ve been singing joyful Christmas carols at Mass.
This Sunday brings us to the last day in the Christmas Season – the celebration of the Baptism of the Lord.
Baptism. What a joyful celebration.
Tomorrow I will be presenting the Pre-Baptism Workshop for parents and Godparents of children who will be Baptized soon.
I love giving that workshop because there is such joy there. Most of the children are babies and some are present at the workshop.
It’s awesome watching the parents and Godparents faces as they answer questions about what they are hoping or desiring for their child through Baptism.
I can literally see the love and hope.
And a voice came from the heavens, saying, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:17
That verse from this Sunday’s Gospel reading is what happens after Jesus is Baptized.
Wow.
I like to imagine that happening after all of us were Baptized.
We are God’s beloved daughter or son and at our Baptism I believe He was well pleased and full of love for us.
How are we living out our Baptism?
What does that even mean to us?
Good things to think about these last days of Christmas.
Continued Christmas blessings to you!
