How They Know You Are A Disciple

This coming weekend we celebrate most of our children’s First Holy Communion at our Masses. We have been supporting their parents and guardians in preparing their children by helping the families know more about Jesus and His deep love for them.
I have been so honored to witness many God-moments along the way and some of you have shared your family’s God-moments with me.
What is a God-moment?
Hearing a child’s sincere prayer for their family, seeing the trust in God’s care for them in their face as they pray.
Witnessing parents and guardians experience the healing of the Sacrament of Reconciliation after their children do for the first time and seeing the joy on their faces.
Emails that tell me how much a family’s Catechist is appreciated and loved because of how they lead their sessions and care for their families.
Parents and guardians asking to become Lectors or Eucharistic Ministers at Mass, or to become a Catechist and help next season.
What God-moments fill my heart with is love, and not just any love. God’s love.
This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. John 13:35
Jesus reminds us in this coming Sunday’s Gospel of how we can recognize a disciple of His – love for one another.
I see that all around Saint Peter Claver in our families.
I look forward to celebrating it as 88 of our children celebrate their First Holy Communion, receiving the ultimate love of God in the Eucharist for the first time!
Easter blessings of love!
