Pentecost is an Amazing Thing to Celebrate
May 14, 2024

Holy Spirit + You = Beautiful World

What is something you do well?

Organize.

Repair things.

Do math in your head.

Connect with people.

Garden.

Clean.

Visualize things.

Comfort people.

Computer programs.

Take good photos.

Care for people.

Drive.

Each of us does something well, and the thing you do well isn’t necessarily the thing I do well. That means that all of us together doing what we do well has the potential for making a beautiful world.

This coming Sunday we celebrate Pentecost, which is when Jesus blessed us with the Holy Spirit.

Remember the story of the strong wind blowing into the room where the Apostles were, the tongues of fire that were over each of their heads, and then how filled with courage they went out and told people about Jesus?

Pentecost is considered the birthday of the Church because thousands heard the Apostles that day and believed.

To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit.

1 Corinthians 12:7

Through the Holy Spirit each of us is given charisms, or gifts – something that we do well.

God created us, a Church where each person is an important part of creating the beautiful whole.

That is an amazing thing to celebrate.

The color of Pentecost is Holy Spirit red, so wear red to Mass this weekend.

If you come to the noon Mass, you are invited to wear the traditional clothing of your ethnicity to celebrate the many cultures of our Church.

Come Holy Spirit!

Blessings of the Holy Spirit to you!
