Anxiety.
That is something COVID 19 brought into my life.

I described this weird feeling that I was experiencing during the COVID19 lock-down to a friend who said, “Laura, you are experiencing anxiety.”

It remains in me now. My mind is often full of questions about what is going to happen.

With upcoming things in Faith Formation.

With family situations.

With my retirement and old age.

I am often anxious about what is going to happen.

It’s challenging to just be in the moment.

This coming Sunday we celebrate the Ascension of Jesus.

It’s after His resurrection. He has spent time with His disciples, reassuring them. One of them asks Jesus if He is going to restore the kingdom of Israel from Roman rule.

Look at what Jesus’ answer is:

He answered them, “It is not for you to know the times or seasons that the Father has established by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you… Acts 1:7-8a

Jesus tells them, and I think is telling me and you, don’t worry about what is going to happen, that is up to God the Father, and that we are blessed with the Holy Spirit who gives us strength and guidance each day.

Every time my thoughts go to questions of what is going to happen, I’m going to stop, take a breath, thank God for His care of me, and ask the Holy Spirit to help me just be in the moment.

I hope you do this too, and that we find our anxiety and worry turns to trust and peace.
