WWJD...What Will You Do?

Do any of you remember the WWJD rubber bracelets that were popular back in the 90’s?
WWJD stands for What Would Jesus Do.
A book was written about a church community that committed to doing nothing before asking themselves that question first.
Adults, teens and children all did this for a year.
The book describes what happened in several people’s lives through doing this.
It is a good book.
Back when I was serving as a Youth Minister at a parish, about 60 teens and 5 adults committed to wearing a WWJD bracelet for a month and do nothing without asking ourselves that question first.
It was pretty amazing to hear stories of their experiences and what I experienced myself.
For some reason those memories came to mind after I read this coming Sunday’s Mass readings and prayed about what to write to you.
Advent is a time of spiritual preparation, not just for celebrating Jesus’ birth at Christmas, but preparing for Jesus’ second coming.
Our Mass readings are Scriptures that guide us in that preparation.
Welcome one another, then, as Christ welcomed you, for the glory of God.
Romans 15:7
That is a verse from Sunday’s Second Reading.
Saint Paul’s words clearly describe what Jesus would do and ask us to do the same.
How will we welcome and care for others as Jesus did at home?
At school?
At work?
At church?
Finding and wearing a What Would Jesus Do? bracelet for the season of Advent might be a good idea…I think I may still have one.
Bring blessings of Christ!
