You Can Be A Blessing

Being judgmental about others.
Gossiping about others.
Saying you hate people.
Hoping people fall to some sort of suffering or demise and smiling when they do, thinking they deserve it.
These are traps of sin we can fall into.
I was talking with someone today that was saying such negative things about other people. I wondered if they remember that the people they are talking about are a person with feelings, hopes, dreams and faith in God.
A few days ago, I was getting gas in my car and the person next to me doing the same on the other side of the pump started going on and on with such anger about our President. I was quiet. At one point they looked at me, waiting for me to join in.
I just said, “I pray for our President every day.”
We hear that some are conducting themselves among you in a disorderly way, by not keeping busy but minding the business of others. 2 Thessalonians 3:11
This week I have been focusing on getting back to praying in the morning.
I have been asking Jesus to fill my mind and heart with His peace and to help me carry that peace through out each moment of the day ahead.
Doing this has made me aware of each time I lose my temper in my mind or get overwhelmed with stress.
It’s a lot of times during the day – I am surprised! Why am I this way now?!
I believe that because of the instant way we get inundated with things through news, social media and the internet we are constantly hearing and seeing the negative.
It takes a toll on us.
It seems to have given us the green light to do the negative we hear and see as well.
Being judgmental about people.
Gossiping about people.
Saying you hate people.
Hoping people fall to some sort of suffering or demise and smiling when they do, thinking they deserve it.
We have become desensitized.
People are no longer a person.
In the Scripture verse above from this coming Sunday’s second reading, Saint Paul calls us out on this. In the name of Jesus, he urges us to tend to ourselves, quietly.
Imitate Jesus.
I’ve got a way to go, but I’m trying.
Jesus, please bring Your peace.
Bring blessings by imitating Jesus!
