Mighty Acts of God in Your Days

I am sitting here asking the Holy Spirit what I should write to you.
As I look back at last week, so many different things happened, both joyful and challenging things.
Listening to a parent about the abuse that happened to their child.
Witnessing the joy of two more families celebrating their children’s First Holy Communion.
Being flooded with memories at a farewell dinner for Father Riz and Father Mike.
Praying with families who have lost loved ones.
Running a Coke over to a fellow staff member to help with a terrible headache.
Working with a bunch of volunteers to clean one of the parish garages.
Picking up a friend from the airport.
…yet we hear them speaking in our own tongues of the mighty acts of God.
Acts 2:11b
This coming Sunday we celebrate Pentecost, the day the Holy Spirit came to the disciples, filling them with the ability to proclaim all the mighty acts of God and His love.
I can hear through the Holy Spirit the mighty acts of God from last week.
Having childhood abuse in my own past, I needed to pray my way through listening to that parent. I felt the Holy Spirit surrounding both of us.
I swear you can hear Jesus laughing with joy as children receive Him for the first time!
Journeying in faith with Father Riz just over 6 years and with Father Mike 3 years, God has brought many blessings to me through both of them.
Praying with families at the funeral or memorial Mass of a loved one is a corporal work of mercy that is an honor to live. The peace and hope Jesus brings through His resurrection is very present.
Talking and laughing with a group of volunteers while working hard here at church makes me feel like I am part of caring for this house of God, Saint Peter Claver Church.
And picking someone up from the airport and listening to them talk about their trip – I heard Jesus telling me that He is that eager to listen to each of us talk about all that’s going on in our lives.
Let the Holy Spirit show you the mighty acts of God in your days.
Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you.
