Is Your Faith Moving You to Serve?

For the past three weeks a volunteer was hard a work preparing lots of things for our First Reconciliation Retreat, our make-up First Reconciliation Retreat, and our A Holy Family Retreat.
At all three of those family retreats, several volunteer Catechists prepared and came to serve the families that came.
Yesterday a staff member came on her day off to help serve our families.
I watched all these volunteers do this joyfully.
I also saw the hope these volunteers have for our families, hope that through all they were doing our families could encounter Christ.
Every morning after I wake up, I make the Sign of the Cross, praying Thank You God the Father, thank You Son, and thank You Holy Spirit.
Then as I think about the day before, I tell God specific things I am thankful for.
This morning, I thanked God for all these volunteers I get to serve with who showed me how not only do they have hearts of faith, but how their faith moves them to serve God by serving our families in Faith Formation.
Is he grateful to that servant because he did what was commanded?
So should it be with you.
When you have done all you have been commanded, say, 'We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were obliged to do.'
Luke 17:9-10
In this coming Sunday’s Gospel, I hear Jesus reminding us that our faith is so much more than doing what God commands us to do.
I hear Jesus pointing me again to what I witnessed our volunteers doing this past month.
Yes, follow God’s commandments in living our faith, but there is so much more.
Is our faith moving us to joyfully care for and serve others?
Extend mercy?
Love?
Blessings of faith that moves you to serve!
