Jesus Says We Must Be Prepared

“This is very serious. You can have a massive stroke and die at any moment.”
Those were the words I heard just about a month ago at a doctor’s office.
My blood pressure was dangerously high.
It took about 48 hours to bring it down.
48 hours of shock and fear.
You can have a massive stroke and die at any moment...
My mind was flooded with thoughts during those 48 hours of my possible death. (For the record, this doesn’t help the blood pressure go down.)
I’m not ready to die.
I need to tell people how much I love and appreciate them.
I need to talk with a priest and go to Reconciliation.
I need to update my funeral plans.
What about all my things?
I need to make lists of what to do with all my things.
All the last conversations I had with people…that’s it? I didn’t know!
You also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come. Luke 12:40
In this coming Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus talks about being vigilant in our readiness to meet Him.
Are we prepared?
Jesus says it will happen when we don’t expect it.
I was not prepared at all to hear I could have a stroke and die.
I am better now, but this reminder to be prepared to meet Jesus has me thinking again…
Blessings to you!
