Where is Jesus in all this?
March 9, 2026

I'm a Bit Overwhelmed, But...

Right now I am a bit overwhelmed by life.

Getting an unexpected call that my dad is dying and I need to come to Maui immediately.

Watching my dad suffer and die.

Planning the funeral, thinking it’s done, then more details pop up that I need to care for.

Keeping up on my work here at church.

Finding my car won’t start as I want to leave work on a cold and rainy night.

Working the Religious Education Congress in Anaheim, getting a ride to and from because my car was in the shop.

Flying back to Maui for my dad’s funeral and burial.

Coming home to find that after I finish work on Sunday (yesterday) I need to go home and work to completely clear my apartment balcony my Monday morning (today) because they have decided to power wash, then paint the outside of the building.

He answered and said, “Who is he, sir, that I may believe in him?”
Jesus said to him, “You have seen him, and the one speaking with you is he.”

John 9:36-37

I am asking where is Jesus in all this, so that I may believe He is here, caring for me.

He is answering me through this coming Sunday’s Gospel reading.

Because of someone’s computer and travel savvy help, I was in Maui at my dad’s bedside 12 hours after getting that call to come.

Kind people on the phone across the ocean were so patient in answering all my questions about the funeral – even when I called two or three times in one day.

Kyle in our Faith Formation Office worked more hours to help keep everything going while I was gone.

Finding my car repairs were paid for when I went to pick it up.

The feeling of God’s grace surrounding me like feeling a cold room warm up when a heater is turned on as I worked my job at the Religious Education Congress.

Feeling Jesus’ love through all the prayers and caring words in the many sympathy cards you many of you sent me.

Hearing Jesus tell me to surrender myself to Him, that He would take care of everything several times throughout the day of my dad’s services.

I am one who loves gardening, so I still have lots of work to do to clear my balcony, but I know God will give me the strength I need to get it done.

I have seen Him, felt His care, and have heard His voice.

I know who HE is and can recognize His presence…and I do believe.
