We Still Shine

You Are The Light of the World

Thank you so much for your prayers.

My Dad passed away last Wednesday night.

It was very difficult to see him suffering. I am glad he is at peace now.

I have been with many people as they were dying and with their families.

This feels very different.

My spirit is deeply sad.

It was so hard to leave Maui and my Mom.

I can’t sleep yet because my mind is full of all that we went through.

Now I am at work trying to focus on work things, trying not to cry.

A friend texted me yesterday asking me how I am and I texted back that I am broken, traumatized, exhausted, and that I can’t talk yet.

He texted me back, “You are whole and complete. You are God’s child.”

What a blessing to be reminded of that when I feel so broken.

You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Matthew 5:14

In this coming Sunday’s Gospel reading, Jesus tells His disciples that – He is telling us that too.

Reading it now and asking Him to help me write this to you, it felt like Jesus was reminding me of the same thing my friend did in that text.

Each of us is a child of God.

As disciples, we shine Jesus’ Light.

Even in this dark place I’m in, that Light still shines in me and hopefully from me.

I see God’s glory in that.

Shine His Light!
