This past week high school graduations happened, in person.
A young lady who graduated from Saugus High School in Santa Clarita is the daughter of the LA County firefighter who was recently killed. She wanted to go to her graduation ceremony. One call was put out to firefighters, be there for her as a father figure. Hundreds of male firefighters responded from all over southern California, lining the path she walked to the graduation ceremony and surrounding the field it was held on. What an example of the Kingdom of God.
In this coming Sunday’s Gospel when describing the Kingdom of God, which is not just Heaven but here and now, Jesus said this parable:
It is like a mustard seed that, when it is sown in the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on the earth. But once it is sown, it springs up and becomes the largest of plants and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the sky can dwell in its shade.” Mark 4:31-32
Every day we have choices to be kind, to be helpful, to pray, to have a positive attitude, to not be selfish, but care for the common good of our family and community. In these small everyday choices, we can enable the Kingdom of God to spring up and become present in big ways.
Bring blessings of the Kingdom of God through your choices this week!
