I would love to own a home.
I wish I had the talent of singing beautifully or to play a musical instrument beautifully.
Being able to gather with family once a week is something I long for.
For me, sometimes these desires turn into the sin of envy.
When I catch myself envying someone’s home, or talent, or family it brings me down.
I have to work to shift my focus.
What are my blessings?
What am I thankful for?
Are you envious because I am generous? Matthew 20:15b
Jesus tells a parable or story about envy in this coming Sunday’s Gospel reading.
It hits me right between the eyes!
Envy is on the list of Seven Deadly Sins and I appreciate the reminder from Jesus to shift my focus.
It’s OK to have desires, but not to let them lead us into envy.
I am thankful for so many things in my life!
Blessings of turning envy into gratitude!
