Believe and Light the World with Kind Thoughts

These past two weeks of Advent as we are focusing on kindness, I think I’m doing OK with kind words and random acts of kindness. This coming week is the challenge for me…kind thoughts. My head is full of unkind thoughts about myself.

The thoughts about myself that come into my mind are too many and too ugly to tell you.
In reading this coming Sunday’s Gospel, I hear Jesus asking me to spend this week trying to counter the bad thoughts about myself with thinking about how He thinks about me.

Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.”
Luke 1:45

Pregnant Mary travels to see her cousin Elizabeth, who is pregnant with John the Baptist.
Mary could have thought the Angel Gabriel appearing and telling her she was to give birth to the Christ Child was just a bad dream – not true. But she didn’t because she had a deep faith in God.
She thought about Him and how He promised to send a Savior out of His love for people.

Let it and all Christmas lights remind you to have kind thoughts. Think kind thoughts about your kid’s teachers, your coworkers, your mail and delivery people working to deliver your Christmas cards and packages.
If you are like me and need to think kind thoughts about yourself, do that this week too.
Think about how much you matter to God, how much He loves you, right now, as you are.

Prepare the Way by lighting the world with your kind thoughts this week!
